No screens on our gym floor

There is not a single screen in our gym. There never has been and never will be. A simple program template on the board. And the coach walks a class of 20 people through it and individualizes it for every client.

Demos are by the coach. And one of the most stunning things about the gym floor is people rarely use their phone on it. No one is ever on their phone. They look at the sea. They talk to others. They joke with a coach. They pace around. And they train. They're learning by watching others, listening to coaches, getting nudged by fellow trainees. It's very analog. And I love it.

We never used CrossFit as a crutch. And we will never be a space to train for Hyrox either. There will be no embracing the hot new thing for the sake of eyeballs or attention. No silly gamification, obstacle courses, scoring, point system or other contrivances. That's lazy and counterproductive. You move because it is necessary and good for you. It won't be easy or 'obvious' fun.

There should be a sound rationale or logic to make the training choices, exercise selection or anything else that we do. Tools, moves, instruction or cues. It is in service of making the client move better and enjoy themselves, with the old-fashioned metal they need to move. You need next to no technology, screens or AI for a good training session.
