Nothing is self-evident

The idea that more gyms per 1000 people on a population wide basis will automatically result in a stronger, better conditioned population with healthier hearts, stronger bones and better body composition is naive and silly.

You've got a kindle app on your phone. Does that make you compulsively read? Or do you scroll through Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or whatever idiotic app makes it easy to consume bite sized bullshit.

India has among the most affordable sources of protein in the form of ultrafiltered milk, eggs, low-fat yoghurt, paneer etc, did that make it easier or simpler to eat as per a calorie deficit? Or consume 80-100 grams of protein that you need? Did the measuring cups, apps, weighing scale, black out curtains or affordable coaching make it easier?

The number one question I ask myself nowadays is what do clients respond to?

The most clear takeaway is nothing is self evident. You may put the greatest gym right next door. A coach who is articulate and clear in that gym. And a fridge full of protein and fiber. And the person just won't do what is necessary to get stronger, leaner and healthier.

They will sit there and talk about how lifting weights is not for them. Or how running, pilates or yoga is what they enjoy. That they think ultrafiltered milk is too processed while ordering low-fat Pringles on instamart. They will spout absolute nonsense. And you will realize it was not about convenience, affordability or knowledge.

It was about overcoming ennui, laziness, irrationality and being willing to do what is necessary and learning to enjoy it. That enjoying it won't come quickly or easily when you do hard things. And most people do not have the patience, desire or persistence to learn to enjoy it.
