Movement Inc. Official Home Page
It’s easy to fall into the jaded teacher mode when you’re coaching day in day out.
Yet another client. Yet another hour. One more hour in the same setting. Same moves.
But this ennui needs to be fought vigorously.
For the sake of the client and for the sake of our coaching persona.
A new client comes in with an idea or hope for what training and movement can do for them.
It’s their first hour. It’s their chance to learn something new and accessible. There’s promise in what can be.
It might be my 15,000th hour coaching or I might have coached a squat thousands of times. But it really does not matter to the client. It’s their first time learning something new. And it’s on me to make it succinct, memorable and impactful.
Takeaway
We have to treat the skill of strength, learning, progressions and communication with gravitas. When a new client walks in, you may never match their excitement, curiosity or interest. But to try and see the world and movement through their eyes for just a bit is a necessity for us to do our job well.
